More rain please
I need the neighbors—all of them—to return to the interior of their homes. That way, no one will get hurt.

What will I do with my stimulus check?
Nothing. The fuckers have put it toward what we already “owe” them.

Jesus for President
You may or may not be familiar with the book, but you probably remember the author Shane Claiborne. I wanted to share the news that the tour will be coming to Ventura, this Sunday at Vineyard.

I’m putting together a piece on pre-election summer reading and I’m looking for suggestions. Here’s my tentative list;
Citizen McCain
Audacity of Hope/Obama
Civil Disobedience/Thoreau
Jesus for President/Claiborne
Better Than Sex or Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail ‘72/HST
The End of America/Wolf

Happy Birthday to Me
Since I got fired with no explanation on the same day my other source of income ended, I’ll be spending the morning applying (once again) for food stamps. Please feel sorry for me; I do. (So much for the new computer.)

In honor of the tomato’s now sullied reputation I resurrected this
tomato
“If a woman wants to be a poet, she must dwell in the house of the tomato.”
Erica Jong
Tomato at my doorstep
Declares itself mediator
Talking tomato silenced on the cutting board
Ruptured flesh speaks foreign language
Gentle tomato smiles wounded
Blood meets acid tongue
Blood travels cracks of cemented heart
Alters topography
Maps reconciliation
Submits to vital organs
Submits to absorption
Sacrificial tomato is reborn
In blood and bone
Hospitality of natural law

i need opinions, please
The time has come for me to purchase my first “IBM” type of PC. The software i use for work is not Mac compatible and since I will be doing a chunk of work from home it has become necessary to bite the bullet. I use a pc at the office and I kinda like it. I have only about $500 to spend and I need something I can use for WoW as well as work. Work is basically Internet and Turbolister.
I can’t decide whether to get a desktop or laptop. My Apple laptop needs a new keyboard (possibly worse) and a memory upgrade. I love a laptop for portability, obviously but it must have at minimum a 15″ screen for WoW. I want to get the most bang for my buck but if i buy a desktop I’ll need a desk and a chair so it does become more expensive. If I get a desktop, I’ll probably fix up my Mac laptop. If I get a laptop, I’ll sell the Mac to a friend. Office Depot is currently advertising Toshiba laptops for $499. They seem to have all the bells and whistles but I”m fairly clueless about this stuff. Also, I’m a bit leary of Vista.
I know my computer geek/guru friends are out there…Thoughts?

This is nothing
This does not necessarily mark my return to blogging. I mean way too much has transpired to pick up where I left off or explain where I’ve been. But, something has been bugging me today and I’m not sure why. Catalyst. Tony and Sam went and Sam reported back to me bits of what he experienced and who he saw. While browsing their Web site I noticed my face was sort of frozen with an expression of disgust. That’s not to say I was disgusted by what I read, but I certainly bristled. Squirmed, even. And that persistent tag line of theirs… I miss my family and I miss the way it was. I miss Greg and Michele and the smell of pinesol and cheap candles. I miss my own innocence. I am a small sailboat offshore, (not too far away), weathering occasional swells, anchored nonetheless.
