What America could buy for $145 billion dollars (the 2007 Iraq war budget).
The Iraq war will cost Americans $145 billion dollars this year alone. That $145 billion could buy free tuition, room, and board for every student in a public university or college, and there would still be enough money left over to end hunger in America four times over. Digg this story and help spread the word on how our taxes are being spent.
Thanks Dan!

Punk’s Not Dead
It was too good. 3 bedrooms with large yard above the college for $1695. We pulled onto the street and immediately pegged it as a “renter’s” street; junky yards and peeling paint. As it happened the place was empty, save for a handful of plastic chairs. We snooped around and found an open door. I can’t believe prop owners in this town get away with what they do. This ramshackle Ma & Pa Kettle compound was, as Sam would say, wretched. I really can’t begin to describe how ghetto the bathroom and kitchen were. The floors in most of the place were concrete. Bad vibes. The “yard” was overgrown with giant tree stumps every three feet. Tony and I were laughing as we were touring the place and joking about how it reminded us of a punk rock crash pad. That’s when we saw it. Painted over one of the interior doorways in black spray paint: “Punk’s Not Dead.” And to think all these years I thought it was.

Introducing yet another blog
I could find any reason to blog, but since I’ve fallen in love with WoW, it just makes sense to blog about it. So, meet The Daily Grind: a World of Warcraft Journal.

It shook me up…
…last night to hear Charlie Rose use the word “blow” to describe cocaine.

weighing the pros and cons
My ongoing job search has yielded only two viable options:
1. move into a double-wide trailer on the Avenue to manage the park for free rent + $1250
2. baking and cake decorating at Vons

addiction
There are so many things I’d like to do with my time, but none more than hitting the World of Warcraft battlefield and kicking some horde butt.

role reversal
Last night while I played WoW, Sam made dinner (without supervision). Terriyaki stir fry with broccoli and carrots and carmelized onion. Yum.

when love is a 4-letter word
Friday night, we’re snuggled in reading and playing WoW when we’re jarred by the sound of something or someone banging into the front of our house. Before we can investigate, there’s a knock on the door. Tony opens it and our neighbor “K” nearly falls into our living room, the fragrance of liquor discharging from his pores like smoke from a burning building. Then something totally cliché, yet utterly unexpected happens, no doubt”K’s” version of reconcilliation. “We love you guys, we really do…”
